I haven’t used test strips before. My local supplier recommended a Nutrafin aquarium kit for nitrites and ammonia (the ones with the pipette and test tube). Is this the best way to monitor the water conditions? Should I be testing for anything else?

I prefer a chemical test kit to test strips. That way you aren’t just using modified litmus paper which after exposure to air and or moisture loose their viability fast.
